About us

At La Tajería we are artisan producers of Salt flower, Salt flakes and Virgin Sea Salt. Our activity is carried out in harmony and respect for the environment.

We are located in the ancient La Esperanza salt farm (Puerto Real), in the heart of the Bay of Cádiz Natural Park. Our traditional salt farm still conserves its original structure from the 19th century, a time when this activity was the economic engine of the region.

The traditional salt farms like ours are characterised by the use of long channels through which the sea water evaporates due to the action of the wind and the sun. During the whole process, the seawater enters the salt farm and circulates through the channels only by the action of gravity and the tides. Thanks to this slow process, the sea water arrives without impurities and we extract a product of the highest quality.

At La Tajería we recover the traditional methods. All the varieties of salt are harvested by hand and sun-dried, without the use of any machinery. This way of doing things, respecting the long waiting times and looking for the highest quality, results in a unique product.

We are proud of our commitment to the environment. We adapt our salt farm and our activity to attract and coexist with the migratory birds that come here every year to rest: flamingos, spoonbills, black storks, stilts, grey herons, kentish plovers... In addition, all the packaging we use is 100% recyclable and low impact.
